Crazy Heart

Watch out, Oscar! Jeff Bridges and Maggie Gyllenhaal are on their way!

I was so lucky to see this movie last week on a very rare afternoon to myself. It was truly amazing.

Jeff Bridges and Maggie G. gave extraordinary performances.

I grew up on folks like Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings, and Merle Haggard.
Hard drinkin', hard livin', powerful music were quite the norm in the little neck of the country I grew up in.

You should see my record collection...! This movie was like watching the lives of the musicians I've listened to so many times.

Luckily, this movie is getting attention so it should be in most theaters by Oscar time. Go see it!!!

It is fictional and based on a novel by Thomas Cobb (FYI)

Here is the movie trailer. Crazy Heart.

Happy Viewing!

I may be a Latina but my daddy loved and raised me on Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings, and Merle Haggard too! I can't wait to see this. Thanks for the fab review :)

Great post! I really want to see this, although I'm not a big country fan (I live in Nashville...go figure!). One of the blogs is hosting a giveaway of the book. Have you seen it? If not, I'll let you know who it is. Have you seen my OSCAR watch post today?

I have really got to get to this one. I heard a guy today say that Bridges is practically a shoo-in to win.

I'll be 26 on the 21st but I LOVE Johnny Cash, Hank Williams Sr & Jr, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, oh and we CANNOT forget Willie Nelson too!

I've heard about the movie and I've heard some of the music on iTunes but I didn't know there was a book too!

Now that Maggie G. is nominated for Best Supporting Actress, I'm even more excited for this movie! It is so deserving of any awards!
I'm glad you all responded and hope you get a chance to see it, country fan or not.

Celtic Lady, My Grandma is going into Hospice Care starting today. I'll write more during my Week in Review. It's a turn we weren't expecting so soon. :(

My friend is getting married and their song is going to be a Merle Haggard song. That was the first time I'd heard of him!
