Questions about hosting a challenge. Need Help!

HEY FELLOW BLOGGERS!

I have an idea for a challenge that I would like to host.
How do I go about creating a button? And how do I do the Mr. Linky thing?

I just don't do computers well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

For creating a button, you can do it one of two ways- you can make it yourself, by finding a stock image you like and then adding text to it (I used the free version of Photoshop to make the button for my blog) or you can go to one of the many people online who do design work (I'm working with Rachel from Parajunkee Design right now for a button for a project I'm hoping to launch in January).

For Mr. Linky, all you have to do is go to the site (http://www.blenza.com/linkies/wizard.php) and make a free account, then click on the Wizard at the top and decide what kind of linky you want. I use the Easy version, then you just follow the directions to make the linky and copy and paste the code into your blog post.

Hope this helps!

I actually couldn't get the free Mr. Linky to work. I had to pay money to customize my linky thing (otherwise, I would have had to use someone else's meme for my challenge). Maybe I did something wrong! LOL

As for the button, it's pretty much like Emily says. You can just whip something up in Photoshop. You could also add code to it so people could easily put it on their site so it links back to yours. That's a bit trickier, though (took me quite a while to get it the way I wanted on my site).

I usually find an image I like on Google images or on Photobucket. If you have a Photobucket, you can save the image to your album and then edit it. This allows you to add your own text and effects, resize it, etc. If you want, I can make you a button...if you find an image you like. I make them for Ryan (Wordsmithonia) all the time. =O)

If I were you, I would use Linky Tools instead of Mr. Linky (which is blenza.com) because if you want to use Mr. Linky more than once you have to pay for at least a silver membership. I used Mr. Linky last year and when I tried to use more than one, they disappeared. I found out from them that you have to have a paid account to have multiple linkies. I'm pretty sure Linky Tools is always free. Here's the link: http://www.linkytools.com/log_in.aspx

Good luck and let me know about the button!

I think everyone has covered it. I'm hosting a challenge for the first time too! I found making the button interesting, but I was able to do it. The sizing is what I had trouble with. I look forward to seeing what your challenge is.

A really great *free* photo editing site is http://www.picnik.com/

It's pretty easy to use and they have nice fonts to use for buttons. :)

I just wanted to add I'm available for making buttons for challenges and events for free.

I'm not a big professional but I can do more than just the basics.

I've made buttons for others before. Just send me an email (through blogger profile)

It looks like you got all the answers you were looking for. Any clues on the nature of the challenge??
