Book Review: Henry! You're Hungry Again?! by Mary Evanson Bleckwehl

Sweet! I get to eat! Henry's hungry. All the time! He eats and eats, but why doesn't he feel big and strong afterward? Will anyone rescue Henry from the world of sweets and junk food? Or will he turn into the weakest kid in school? Are you a hungry Henry, too? This funny and tasty morsel of a story will have you running to the kitchen cupboard and hopefully finding what makes you big and strong. Food is a requirement. Laughter is, too. Get your dose today. (Goodreads)

I was sent this book by the author who just so happens to live in my hometown. I do not know her however! I was intrigued by the cover art at first and thought my five year old would love it. He did! We have since read it over ten times! Many kids could relate to this story of little Henry and his constant appetite! Many parents can relate to having kids who ONLY want to eat the sugary, bad stuff. This tale portrays the down side to only eating the bad quite well; the constant hunger, the wobbly legs, the no energy, etc. It wraps it up with a fairy tale told to Henry by his gym teacher that convinces Henry to eat right and to spread the goodness on to his friends and family and teachers.

Very cute illustrations, bright colors and a precocious little boy brings this story to life. Fit for a multitude of ages, ranging from 4 to 10. To purchase, click on the author's website below.
