Remembering Matthew Shepard

We all must live with compassion for others.

This is what we must teach our children.

Put your fears aside and be kind to one another.

Thank you.

What a tragedy and tragically this kind of hatred is still all too common. I'm so proud of my daughter who counts among her best friends a gay man and a transgender friend. She and a group of her friends even started a Gay Straight Alliance at school.

Thank you so much for posting this. Sometimes I can't believe how far our community has come in the last 13 years. This summer I had the joy of getting a legal civil union with my partner of 9 years, something I could never have imagined at the time of Matthew Shepard's murder.

So glad you posted this. We've come so far but I hope we continue on a path toward open-mindedness.

thank you for posting this...i was not even aware of the incredible organization started by his parents until the National Book Award fiasco with Lauren Myracle's "Shine" .... what a legacy Matthew Shepard's parents have created in their son's memory. thank you for reminding us all.
